Aue, f., ‘ewe,’ dialectic, from MidHG. ouwe, OHG. ou, f., ‘sheep.’ Comp. AS. eowu, E. ewe; primit. allied to Lat. ovis, Gr. οἵς, Lith. avis (OSlov. ovĭca), ‘sheep.’ See Schaf.
