Author:Heron the Elder of Alexandria

From Wikisource
Heron the Elder of Alexandria
(fl. c. 2nd century BCE)

Pupil (possibly son?) of Ctesibius; inventor of the eolipile and "Heron's fountain." Some authorities (e.g. Wikiquote) merge this person with Hero of Alexandria; however the dates of these two individuals seem incompatibly different.
