The author of "On the Shee" is identified as "Ἠυτοσχεδίασε H. B. Soc. N. C." (improvised by H. B., Fellow of New College). Beeston is the only individual with the initials "H. B." listed in Al. Oxon. as a fellow of New College at the time "On the Shee" was published.

His entry in Al. Oxon. is as follows:

Beeston, Henry, fellow of New Coll. 1649, B.C.L. 16 May, 1653, D.C.L. 12 Feb., 1660-1, a student of Gray's Inn 1651 (as eldest son of William, of Possbrooke, Hunts), headmaster of Winchester College 1658-79, warden of New College 1679-1701, preb. of Winchester 1664-95, rector of Over Wallop 1662, died 12 May, 1701, father of John 1691, and of Henry next named. See Gutch, i. 201; & Foster's Gray's Inn Admissions.

VIAF lists this author as "Winton, H. Beeston (Henry Beeston)". Winton is not his name, it is short for Wintoniensis i.e. "of Winchester".
