Licensing

[edit]

Johnston publishes his works on his website, http://johnstoniatexts.x10host.com/ . All of his translations, at least at the current moment, are available under a non-commercial license, which is not compatible with our copyright policy. His lectures, however, are in the public domain and can be hosted with the license {{PD-release}}. Beleg Tâl (talk) 12:24, 29 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Beleg Tâl: Hello. I emailed Mr. Johnston and asked him if he would allow publication of his translations on Wikisource. He responded me with «As for having the material published on Wikisource, that would be fine with me.». So, what would be the way to proceed to add his translations? —Genesis Bustamante (talk) 19:13, 29 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Genoskill: Please note that in order to host the translations on Wikisource, they must be independently published (not self-published - see WS:WWI) and released under an acceptable license (permission to publish on Wikisource only is not sufficient). If these conditions are satisfied, you can follow the instructions at the following locations:

Hello, Mr. Beleg. I don't know the difference between "independently" and "self" publishing, and the link does not tell it. I assumed that his translations were in the same way published as their lectures (please correct me). Nevertheless, I think that Mr. Johnston will not put them on a pro-commercial-use license, so... I think everything will stay the same. —Genesis Bustamante (talk) 22:03, 1 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
