  • A fairly detailed "biography" can be found in The Wiley-Blackwell Encyclopedia of Eighteenth-Century Writers and Writing. From it, the following facts are confirmed:
    • Active 1708-1727
    • Nothing is known about Wright except what is stated in Best Mirth and Spiritual Songs
    • Best Mirth 1st edition Part 1 is lost, part 2 published 1718; reissued 1748 and 1800
    • Spiritual Songs was published 1727, 2nd ed. 1738, 5th ed. 1772, various other editions c. 1780 and 1793
    • A poem in Spiritual Songs states that the author journeyed to London and arrived there May 12, 1708; this is the earliest known date for him
    • He wrote an elegy for his friend Nicholas Chamberlain in 1715
    • His date of death is unknown
  • Various other reputable publications also give the dates fl. 1708-1727: [1] [2]
  • Some online catalogues, for some reason, give the dates fl. 1720-1744:[3] [4] [5]
