Identity

[edit]

R. Torceanu is possibly the same person as M. Ricard Torceanu (note, the "M." may be an initial or may indicate "Mr."), who collected and published Romanian folk songs. [1][2] According to one source [3] Mr. Torceanu is from Bucharest. —Beleg Tâl (talk) 19:15, 4 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Possibly the same person as Jon Ricard Torceanu, author of Die Grundlage Der Spencer'schen Ethik (1900)? —Beleg Tâl (talk) 19:22, 4 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Comment

Foreword indicates that was residing in London in 1883, though the surname does show in common record searches of that period or a range of time around that period. — billinghurst sDrewth 20:48, 4 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Searches of the 19thC British newspapers show three hits in 1882, 1882, and 1883 around publications, and all refer to as M. Torceanu, which indicate this as a polite reference of a gentleman, as noted above. — billinghurst sDrewth 20:52, 4 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
