Cape Cod is one of several excursion books by Henry David Thoreau. The travel itinerary frames his thoughts about geography, natural and local history, and philosophy.

The copy presented here is the first book edition, published in the United States in 1865. The individual chapters had previously appeared in Putnam's Monthly, beginning in 1855.
