Crosthwaite : born Jan. 17, 1841 : educated at Merchant Taylors and Brasenose College, Oxford : entered the Bengal Civil Service, 1863 : served chiefly in the N.W.P. : was Judicial Commissioner of Burma and Central Provinces : Agent to the Governor-General in Central India and in Rajputana : called to the bar from the Middle Temple, 1868 : K.C.S.I. in 1897.
