The mountains sleep;Ridge and ravine and valley lie a-dream;In earth's dark seamThe writhing reptile slumbers; and the gleamOf feral eyes grows drowsy down the steep;Bee-murmurings cease;Over the blue brine comes releaseFor slow sea-monsters, and to birds surceaseOf stress for fluttering pinions in forgetful peace.
