Executive Order 1249
It is hereby ordered that the position of assistant postmaster in post offices of the first and second classes and also the position of clerk of whatever grade in post offices of the first and second classes not hitherto classified shall be included in the classified competitive service, provided that no assistant postmaster or clerk appointed without examination prior to this order shall be classified who fails to establish to the satisfaction of the Post Office Department his capacity for efficient service in the position held, and Schedule A of the Civil Service Rules is hereby amended accordingly; this order to take effect December 1, 1910.
