Executive Order 3317
Under authority of the Act of Congress of June 4, 1897 (30 Stat., 11), and upon recommendation of the Secretary of Agriculture, it is hereby ordered that all the lands included within the boundaries of the Sopris National Forest, Colorado, as fixed and defined by proclamation of December 16, 1910 (36 Stat., 2769), be, and the same are hereby, transferred to the Holy Cross National Forest, Colorado, and shall hereafter be administered as a part of said Holy Cross National Forest.
It is intended by this Executive Order, for economy of administration, to merge into one National Forest, thereafter to be known as the Holy Cross National Forest, all the lands which are now within the Sopris and Holy Cross National Forests, and the boundaries of the Holy Cross National Forest, as they now exist, are hereby modified accordingly.
