Executive Order 870
It is hereby ordered that on and after July 1, 1908, the land within the boundaries shown on the attached diagram, heretofore set apart, reserved, and proclaimed as parts of the Holy Cross, Leadville, Gunnison, and Battlement Mesa National Forests, shall be known as the Holy Cross National Forest. The remaining portions of the Holy Cross National Forest shall continue reserved and constitute parts of the Leadville National Forest. It is not intended by this order to release any land from reservation or to reserve any land not heretofore embraced as a National Forest.
