Chapter 12: How to Decide Which Lacing Adjustment to Use
[edit] 1. At this point, you have decided on your client's type, observed
her conditions, if she has any, determined her poise and taken her
actual body measurements. All the information, gained through
these various steps, gives you the necessary facts upon which to base
your decision as to which lacing adjustment your client needs.
Your decision is made on what the condition is and where it is.
2. It is a general rule that an adjustment by lacing in the front
cares for conditions on the front of the body; lacing in the back
cares for conditions on the back of the body. In some conditions it
may be found necessary to use combined lacing adjustments of vari-
ous kinds.
3. THE FOUR TYPES, being normal, can wear either back or
front-laced corsets. In this case you will select the one which will
conform to and bring out the natural good figure lines. If your
client has a preference for either front or back adjustment, you can
consider her choice. If she is not normal, her condition, what it is
and where it is, will determine the lacing adjustment.
4. GORILLA POISE requires a corset with lacing adjustment
in the front to correct the condition, or a combined front and back
adjustment may be used.
5. KANGAROO POISE requires a corset with a combined front
and back, or a combined front and partial back adjustment, or
lacing in the back, to correct the condition.
6. CUT-IN WAIST requires a corset with lacing in the back, or
combined adjustment may be used.
7. FLESH DEVELOPED OUT OF PROPORTION OVER
SIDE HIPS AND ABDOMEN usually requires a corset with lacing
in the front if the larger accumulation of flesh is over the abdomen;
or lacing adjustment in the back if the larger accumulation of flesh
is over side hips.
8. THIGH FLESH requires a corset with lacing adjustment in
the back, or a combined front and back adjustment.
9. PROMINENT AND PENDULOUS ABDOMEN usually
requires a corset with combined back and partial front lacing ad-
justment. In cases which are not extreme either front or back
lacing adjustment may be used.
10. PROMINENT HIP BONES, SCANT OR HEAVY BUST
AND HEAVY SHOULDER FLESH do not affect your decision as
to lacing adjustment. These conditions will be treated in another
section.
