• as enacted on 24 June 1987 and as came into force on 1 October 1990.
• as amended on 10 July 1991 by the Mediation in Certain Divorce Matters Amendment Act, 1991.
• as amended on 7 August 1992 by the General Law Amendment Act, 1992.
• as amended on 4 September 1998 by the Natural Fathers of Children Born out of Wedlock Act, 1997.
• as amended on 31 March 2005 by the Judicial Matters Second Amendment Act, 2003.
• as amended on 9 August 2010 by the Jurisdiction of Regional Courts Amendment Act, 2008, and currently in force.
