Davis, Israel, M.A. (scholar), Christ's Coll., Camb., 1873, 1st class classics, a member of the South-eastern circuit, a barrister employed to conduct Board of Trade inquiries and as legal assessor to London Local Marine Board, held briefs in Princess Alice inquiry, Austral inquiry, and "Greenwell v. National Provincial Bank," author of Sir Moses Montefiore, a biographical sketch reprinted from the Times, etc., educated at City of London School, a student of the Inner Temple 11 Jan., 1869 (then aged 21), called to the bar 7 June, 1873 (eldest son of David Davis, Esq., of Blackheath, Kent); born 29 March, 1847; married 3 Feb., 1880, Jane, youngest dau. of late D. J. Jaffé, Esq., of Belfast, and has issue.
