Houston, John, common law lecturer to Inns of Court 1873, a member of the joint board of examiners Inns of court 1864, and a reporter (for the new reports), in the exchequer chamber, 1863-4. author of Principles of the Law of Stoppage in Transition, Retention, and Delivery, educated at the High School and Univ. of Glasgow, a student of the Middle Temple 15 Jan., 1859, certificate of honour 1st class May, 1861, called to the bar 6 June, 1861 (4th son of William Houston, Esq., of Glasgow); born 22 Nov., 1828; married 12 Aug., 1879, Emily Caroline, 2nd dau. of Mr. W. T. Seal, of Richmond, Surrey.
