Philipps, Charles Edward Gregg, lord lieutenant Haverfordwest since 1876, high sheriff co. Pembroke 1882, J.P., J.P. co. Carmarthen, capt. Pembroke yeomanry cavalry since 1878, assumed the surname of Philipps in lieu of his patronymic by royal licence 29 July, 1876, a member of the Midland circuit, a student of the Middle Temple 14 Nov., 1865, called to the bar 6 June, 1868 (eldest son of Edward Fisher, of Spring Dale, Huddersfield, merchant); born 6 Oct., 1840; married 5 June, 1868, Mary Philippa, eldest surviving dau. and co-heir of late Rev. James Henry Alexander Philipps, of Picton Castle, co. Pembroke, and niece of late Baron Milford, and has issue (see Foster's Baronetage, Philipps).
