At length Lord Anson ordered a Board of Longitude to be called on the 2nd of June and the above memorial was read in consequence of which the Commissioners desired the opinion of the Royal Society with regard to the measures proper to be taken for the Trial of Mr. Harrison's Time Keeper. The same was taken into consideration by the President and Council of the Royal Society on the 25th of June and the 3rd of July and their Plan was transmitted to the Commissioners of the Longitude and was as follows.

A Plan for an adequate Trial of Mr. Harrison's Time Keepers as recommended by the President and Council of the Royal Society on the 25th June and the 3rd July 1761.

In the first place, a Person shoudl be appointed to find the time at Portsmouth and to see the Clock &c set to that time on the departure of Mr. Harrison and to send exact Information of the same to the Lords of the Admirality, all which can be conveniently performed by Mr. Robertson, Master of the Royal Academy at Portsmouth.

Secondly, It will be proper to appont certain witnesses who are always to accompany Mr. Harrison when he visits his Time Keeper upon the Voyage and for this purpose some of the Officers of the Ship will be sufficient.

Thirdly, a Person ought to be expressly sent to Jamaica in the same ship with Mr. Harrison in order to find the true time immediately upon the first arrival there, which time it will be proper to note down before Witnesses and
