CREDITO HIPOTECARIO DE BOLIVIA.

This bank was established in January, 1870, with a subscribed capital of 1,000,000 bolivianos of which 100,000 bolivianos only has been paid in. It is the first bank of this character organized in Bolivia, and its success has been phenomenal. Its principle place of business is La Paz, with branches and agencies in different parts of the country. It has for many years paid a regular annual dividend of 40 per cent on its subscribed capital, and its managers expect to shortly be able to pay an annual dividend of 100 per cent. This is perhaps the most successful mortgage bank in the world. Starting in business with but 100,000 bolivianos of paid-up capital, it has thus far paid 40 per cent annually on 1,000,000 bolivianos, while its shares are eagerly sought after at 440 bolivianos per share, or at a premium of 340 per cent. Its loans for the first half of 1891 amounted to 486,000 bolivianos. At the close of 1891, the amount of its loans and the value of its securities therefor were:
