��1397 Robert Reade^^, bishop of Carlisle^ was translated to 20Ric.Il. this see by papal bull dated 5th Oct. 1396-*^; and made his profession of obedience 12th March i396-7'2i. The temporalities were restored to him 6th May^"^. He died in June 1415-3. His will is dated loth Aug. 14 14, and was proved 6th July 141 5^^. A conge d'elire vice bishop Reade issued 21st June 1415^^, and the custody of the bishopric was granted 1st Julv-*'; and on the 2nd of that month another li- cense to elect a bishop in the room of Robert Reade issued 27, the first not having been complied with.

1415 Stephen Patington or Patrixgton, bishop ofSt.Da- 3 Hen. V. ^;^o?^s, was appointed to the see of Chichester ; but he died before his translation could be perfected. His will, dated 16th Nov. 1417, was proved 29th Dec. 141728. His epitaph, however, as given in Wcever p. 438, states that he died 22nd Sept. 14172^. The license to elect a bishop in the stead of Stephen Pa- trington is dated Feb. 3rd 1417-1830.
