the office in 1426. Richard Stanley, admitted 6th July 1426, vice Price

office in 1461. Thomas Saint just succeeded in 1462, and died in 1467. Henry Ince succeeded in 1467. John Morton, LL.D., collated 9th May 1474. Made
bishop of Ely in 1479. James Stanley succeeded in 1478, and died in i486. Christopher Talbot s, admitted 7th June 1486^ vice
Stanley. John Birkenhead is said to have held the office in
1490. Edmund Chaderton, admitted 27th Feb. 1492-3. His
will, dated 6th April 1499, was proved 12th Oct. fol- lowing. John Voysey or Veysey, admitted 27th Aug. 1499.
Made bishop of Exeter in 1515. CuTHBERT ToNSTALL, admitted 17th Nov. 1515. Made
bishop of Durham in 1522, William Knight, admitted nth Nov. 1522. He was
the last archdeacon of Chester while it remained part
of the diocese of Lichfield and Coventry. He resigned
it to king Henry Vni. in 1541, and became bishop of
Bath and Wells.
