to elect another in his room issued 26th Nov. 1641 43 ,
in pursuance of which >4i Brian Duppa, bishop of Chichester, was elected to the ' ar - ! see of Salisbury, and obtained the royal assent 11th
Dec. 1641 ", he was confirmed 14th Dec. and received
the temporalities on the 2cth of the same month 45 .
Ho suffered in common with the other bishops during
the Commonwealth ; after the Restoration he was
translated to Winchester. 56o Humphrey Hen< hman, S.T.P., precentor of Salisbury, n. was elected 4th Oct. 1660, confirmed on the 23rd, and
consecrated on the 28th of the same month'". In
1663 he was translated to London. 56} John E mm i , bishop of Worcester, was elected to Salis- ur.II. bury 19th Sept. 1663, and confirmed on the 26th of
the same month 1 ", lie died 1 ;th Nov. 1665, setat.
65, and was buried in Morton college chapel, Oxford,
on the 25th of the same month. His will is in the
Prerogative Office of Canterbury 1S . ^6^ Alexander Hyde, LL.D., dean of Winchester, was ar - II. nominated 15th Dec. 1665, and was consecrated in
New College chapel, Oxford, 31st Dec. 1665 ,9 . He
died 22nd Aug. 1667, aetat. 70, and was buried in
Salisbury cathedral. His will is in the Prerogative
Office of Canterbury 50 . 56/ Seth Ward, bishop of Exeter, was elected to this see ar. II. ^th Sept. 1667, and confirmed on the 12th of the
same month 31 . He died at Knightsbridge 6th Jan.
16889, an< l was buried in Salisbury cathedral. 589 Gilbert Burnet, S.T.P., was nominated 9th March &M. 1688-9, and consecrated at Fulham 31st Mar. 1689 5 -.
He died 1 7th March 17 14 15, in the 73rd year of his
