PREBENDARIES. 309 James Rand was appointed in 1606. He resigned his stall 7th Oct. 1620. Robert Newell was collated 5th Oct. and installed 20th Oct. 1620. Gabriel Clark was collated ist Aug. 1635, being re- moved from the third prebend to this; he died in 1662. Dennis Grenville was collated i8th Sept. and in- stalled 24th Sept. 1662 : on his removal to the second stall Thomas Smith was removed from the fourth prebend 2 1st April 1668, and installed in this ist July follow- ing. He resigned it in 1684, on being made bishop of Carlisle. William Grahme was collated 25th Aug. 1684. He died 4th Feb. 17 11-12, being dean of Wells. John Bowes was removed from the fifth prebend ist May 1712, and installed the next day. He died in 1721. Thomas Rundle was presented 23rd Jan. 1721-^2. He resigned this for the twelfth stall in the same year. Thomas Mangey was removed from the fifth to this stall 22nd Dec. 1722. William Warburton was appointed 21st March 1755. He became bishop of Gloucester, but held this stall in commendam. Charles Cooper was collated 29th Aug. 1779. Reynold Gideon Bowyer was collated 5th Nov. 1804. He died 30th Jan. 1826. Thomas Gisborne », collated 6th May 1826. Ob. 24th March 1846. SECOND STALL. Roger Watson was appointed by the foundation charter 1 2th May 1541. He died in 1561. John Pilkington was collated on the 2nd and installed 8th Oct. 1 56 1. Ho died in 1603, being also archdeacon of Durham.
