TREBENDARIES. 319 Ralph Brownrigg succeeded to this stall about the year 1541. He was made bishop of Exeter. Thomas Wood was presented 7th July 1660, and in- stalled ]oth Dec. following. He became bishop of Coventry and Lichfield, but held this stall in com- mendam till his death in 1693. John Mount ague was presented 21st April 1692, and installed 3rd June following, having been removed from the fourth prebend. He was made dean of this cathedral in 1699. Theophilus Pickering wasremoved from the fourth stall 20th Jan. 1699-1700, and installed ist Feb. following. FiTZHERBERT Adams was rcmovcd from the tenth stall to this prebend 3rd April 1 7 11 , and installed on the 14th of the same month. He died 27 th June and was buried 1st July 1719. John Dolben was collated 17th July 17 19. Wadham Knatchbull was collated 25th Dec. 1756. Samuel Dickens was collated i6th March 1761. John Sharp was collated 9th Sept. 1791. Charles Weston was collated 2nd June 1792. George Barrington was collated i6th Nov. 1801. Thomas Gaisford resigned this stall in 1831. Samuel Smith, 21st Sept. 1831. John Edwards, 12th May 1841^-. TWELFTH STALL. William Watson was appointed 12th May 154 1, and died in 1556. Anthony Salwyx was collated 1 2th Oct. 1556, and re- signed it for the eleventh stall in Oct. iS5^' George Cliff was installed 13th Sept. 1558. Henry Ewbank was collated 2nd April and installed 8th Sept. 1596. William James was installed 6th Oct. 1620. GiY Carleton was presented by the King 19th July 1660.
