1828: William Ward, appointed by letters patent 3rd Jan. 1828, and was consecrated 9th March following. He died in 1838.
1838: James Bowstead, appointed 13th July 1838, and consecrated on the 22nd of the same month. He was translated to Lichfield in Dec. 1839.
1840: Henry Pepys, appointed 27th Jan. 1840, and consecrated 1st March. He was translated to Worcester in 1841.
1841: Thomas Vowler Short, appointed 19th May 1841, and consecrated on the 30th of the same month. He was translated to St. Asaph in 1846.
1846: Walter Augustus Shirley, archdeacon of Derby, appointed l0th Dec. 1846, and consecrated 10th Jan. 1847. He died in 1847.
1847: Robert John Eden, now lord Auckland, the present holder, appointed 7th May 1847, and consecrated on the 23rd of the same month.
ARCHDEACONS OF MAN.
Laurence was from this dignity made bishop of the see in 1249.
Makaboy was archdeacon here between 1270 and 1330.
Gilbert held the dignity in 1482.
Thomas Clerk held it in 1497, when he was promoted to the see of Killala.
Gilbebt de Latham was archdeacon here in 1546.
Christian occurs next to Latham.
Richard Gorstale was archdeacon here in 1561.
Hugh Holland in 1582.
John Philips occurs in 1597 and 1604; in which last mentioned year he was made bishop of the see.
.... Broxop seems to have succeeded Philips.
Samuel Rutter held it in 1640, and was made bishop of the see in 1661.
Jonathan Fletcher held it in 1662. He died in 1667.
