Luke seems to have been possessed of the office in 1260. Peter de S. Mauro, after some dispute, was restored to the King's favour and quiet possession of this dig- nity 6th May 1261^^ He died ix Cal. Jul. (23rd June) 1296 1-. Thomas de Skernyng obtained a letter from the bi- shop, then at Rome, dated iii Id. Nov. (nth) 1296, directed to his commissaries, that he should be ad- mitted to this archdeaconry: void by the death of Peter de S. Mauro i^. Philip de Barton was admitted 12th March 1299— 1300: void by the death of Thomas de Skernyng^*. He was present at the election of Henry de Merewell to this see in Jan. 1304-5^^. William Inge, appointed loth April 13201^, was pos- sessed of it in 1334 and in 1337^. Richard Vaghan was ratified in this dignity by the King 27th July 1348^8. John de Edyndon, held it 6th Dec. 135 1 ^9. Joan Campeden held it in 1397'^° and in 1400. John Catrik was possessed of it in 1410, and in 1414 was made bishop of St. David's ^^ John Forrest had it granted to him 13th Aug. 1414^2. enjoyed it in 1417, He died in 1446, dean of Wells '^3. ^^ Pat. 43 Hen.
