350 WESTMINSTER. William Auckland, nominated 27th Nov. 1846, vice Dr. Samuel Wilberforcc promoted to the see of Oxford. No valuation in Ecton. PREBENDARIES. FIRST STALL. When king Henry VIII converted this church into an episcopal see in 1 540, Simon Havnes, S.T.P., dean of Exeter, was made the first prebendary of this stall, 17th Dec. 1540^^ Andrew Pearne, S.T.P., was installed 8th Nov. 1552, loco Simonis Haynes"^'^. He became dean of Ely in Prebendaries of this stall since the settlement hy queen Elizabeth. William Barlow, bishop of Chichester ^ had this dig- nity conferred on him by patent from queen Elizabeth, dated 21st June 1560 ^•^. He held it with his bishopric five years. Thomas Browne succeeded in 1565. Ob. 2nd May Thomas Mountford was installed 26th May 1585. He died 27th Feb. 1631, and was buried in the chancel of the church of Tewing in Hertfordshire, of which he had been rector. Gabriel More succeeded in this prebend 8th March 1631—2.
