William Cureton, rector of St. Margaret' s^ gazetted 5th Dec. 1849, vice Henry Hart Milman resigned. 2 A vacancy ha^dng taken place in a prebendal stall in Westmin- ster in Feb. 1835, the King sus- pended his appointment until the Ecclesiastical Commissioners had reported thereon. The Com- missioners by their first Report (17th March 1835) recommend that the vacant stall shall be per- manently annexed to the church of St.MargaretjWestminster; and that the profits of the stall be sufltered to accumulate until a new church be there built, when the parish shall be divided, and the incumbent of the new parish shall receive that annual portion; the accumulation being applied towards providing a parsonage- house for such incumbent. The Commissioners in their se- cond Report (4th March 1836) state that, the King having re- signed his right of appointing to the stall vacant by the death of Dr.Holcombe, they had annexed it to the parish of St. John, Westminster, By their fifth Report the Commissioners re- commend that the number of canons should be reduced to four, but this Report was not signed when the commission expired by reason of the demise of the Crown.
