WINDSOR. Windsor collegiate chapel was founded by king Edward the Third in 1348, to consist of a custos or dean, and twelve canons ; and the first letters patent thereunto relating bear date 6th Aug. 13483. DEANS4. John de la Chaumbre had a grant of the custody of the chapel within the castle of Windsor 14th Nov. 1348^ : he died before i8th June 1349^. William Mugge had a grant of the custody of the chapel within the castle of Windsor i8th June 1349 7. Walter Almaly or Almary, one of the canons of this cliapely was appointed by patent dated on the 24th, and installed custos 26th Feb. 1380—81, vice WiHiam Mugge deceased^.
