T535 Hugh Latimer, S.T.P., was elected on the deprivation 27 H.viii. of Jerome de Ghinucci, and was consecrated in the month of Sept. i^SS^'j ^^ ^^^ ^^® temporalities re- stored 4th Oct. following 7. On ist July 1539 he re- signed his see, and i6th Oct. 1555 suffered martyrdom for the protestant faith at Oxford. 1539 John Bell, LL.D., archdeacon 0/ Gloucester, was elected 31 H.VIII. on the resignation of Latimer ; had the royal assent to his election ist Aug. 1539^, and the temporalities were restored to him on the 4th ^ ; he was confirmed by the archbishop on the iith of the same month i^, and resigned 17th Nov. 1543. The original instrument of his resignation was in the Tally-court, Westminster. He died i ith Aug. 1556, and was buried in Clerken- well church, London. His will, dated loth Aug. 1556, was proved 24th Oct. 1556. The license to elect, on the resignation of John Bell, is dated 14th Dec. 1543 11. 1544 Nicholas Heath, bishop of Rochester^ was elected to 35 H.VIII. thjg geo 22nd Dec. 1543 12, The significavit to the archbishop is dated i6th Jan. 1543-4 ^3. He was confirmed 20th Feb., and had restitution of the tem- poralities 22nd March following^'*.
