At 1:30 p.m. went up Gregory canyon Gregory Canyon, CO with Betts and Marvin to try new Marble "Game Getter" gun, .20 rifle and .44 shot. Cold west wind. Gun proved satisfactory. Saw following birds. Townsend solitaire Myadestes townsendi. (took one) Pink-sided junco Junco hyemalis mearnsi (took one) several Long-crested jay Cyanocitta stelleri several Magpie Corvidae several Mountain chickadee Poecile gambeli common Long tailed chickadee chickadee common Batchelder woodpecker woodpecker one Heard canyon wren Catherpes mexicanus constantly on hillside. Returned at 4:50.
