CAPUT XIV
1. And hē cwæð tō his leomingcnihton,[1]
Ðys godspel gebyrað tō ðǣre mæssan Phylippi and Iacobi.
Ne sȳ ēower heorte gedrēfed; gē gelȳfað on God, and gelȳfað on mē.
2. On mīnes Fæder hūse synt manega eardungstōwa; ne sǣde ic ēow. Hit ys lȳtles wana þæt ic fare and wylle ēow eardungstōwe gearwian?[2]
3. And gif ic fare and ēow eardungstōwe gegearwige, eft ic cume and nime ēow tō mē sylfon; þæt gē sȳn þǣr ic eom.[3]
4. And gē witon hwyder ic fare, and gē cunnon þone weg.[4]
5. Thomas cwæð tō him, Drihten, wē nyton hwyder þū færst; and hū mage wē þone weg cunnan?[5]
6. Sē Hǣlend cwæð tō him, Ic eom weg, and sōðfæstnys, and līf; ne cymð nān tō Fæder butan þurh mē.[6]
7. Gif gē cūðon mē, witodlīce gē cūðon mīnne Fæder; and heonon forð gē hyne gecnāwað, and gē hine gesāwon.
