16. Sume þā Pharisei cwadon, Nis ðēs man of Gode þe restedæg ne healt. Sume cwǣdon, Hū mæg synful mann þās tācn wyrcean? And hig fliton him betwēonan.[1]
17. Hig cwǣdon eft tō þām blindan, Hwæt segst þū be þām þe þīne ēagan untȳnde? Hē cwæð, Hē is wītega.
18. Ne gelyfdon þā Iudeas be him, þæt hē blind wǣre and gesāwe, ǣr þam þe hig clypodon his māgas þe gesāwon,[2]
19. and āxodon hig and cwǣdon, Is ðis ēower sunu þe gē secgað þæt blind wǣre ācenned? hūmeta gesyhþ hē nū?[3]
20. Hys māgas him andswaredon and cwǣdon, We witon þæt þēs [is] ūre sunu, and þæt hē wæs blind ācenned;[4]
21. wē nyton hūmete hē nū gesyhþ, nē hwā his ēagan untȳnde; axiað hine sylfne; ylde hē hæfð; sprece for hine sylfne.
22. His māgas spǣcon þās þing, for þām þe hig ondrēdon þā Iudeas; ðā gedihton þā Iudeas, gif hwā Crīst andette, þæt hē wǣre būtan hyra gefērrǣdene.[5]
