- Tiéh ṳ̃-kàu
- You must prepare enough.
- 勿不足。了在路就無食
- Màiⁿ-m̄-kàu, lióu tõ lōu chiũ bô-chiáh
- For if there is not enough, then we shall get no food on the way.
- 今咱有何個
- Taⁿ nán ũ tî-kâi?
- Now, what have we got?
- 麫包有三個。牛乳油有壹盒
- Mīⁿ-pau ũ saⁿ-kâi, gû-nĩⁿ iû ũ chék-áp
- We have three loaves of bread, and one tin of butter.
- 若是不足壹路好買
- Nāⁿ-sĩ m̄-kàu chék-lōu hó-bói
- If we haven't got enough, we can buy on the way.
- 呌伙頭來
- Kiè húe-thâu lâi
- Call the cook here.
- 明夜昏我要請人
- Màⁿ-mêⁿ-hng uá àiⁿ-chhiáⁿ-nâng
- To-morrow night I wish to invite a few persons.
- 有要請几多人
- Ũ àiⁿ-chhiáⁿ jiéh-tsōi nâng?
- How many people do you wish to invite?
- 大約畧捌人
- Iak-bó-liãng poih-nâng
- Probably eight persons.
- 買壹隻雞做湯
- Bói chék-chiah koi tsò-thng
- Buy a fowl and make soup.
- 壹隻鴨𤇢。壹隻鵝浮
- Chék-chiah ah pek, chek-chiah gô phû
- Roast one duck and fry one goose.
- 割四斤牛肉。三斤羊肉。弍斤猪朥
- Kuah sì-kṳn gû-bah, saⁿ kṳn iêⁿ-bah, nõⁿ-kṳn tṳ-lâ
- Buy (lit. cut) four catties of beef, three catties of mutton, two catties of lard.
- 火腿去高菜館携
- Húe-thúi khṳ̀ kau-tshài-kuán khiéh
- For ham, go to the compradore and get it.
- 携壹腿
- Khiéh chék-thúi
- Get one ham.
- 荷蘭薯還了有或無
- Hô-lan-tsṳ̂ huân-lióu ũ a-bô?
- Have you any more potatoes?
- 有加零些
- Ũ ke lân-ló
- I have a few more.
