Bailey Genealogy. Bailey, Jacob, soldier, was born July 2, 1728, in Newbury, Mass. He settled in Hampstead in 1745 and served as a captain during the French war in 1756. He was with Colonel Munroe in the siege of Fort William Henry; and was among those who escaped the subsequent massacre in 1757. He was also present at the capture of Ticonderoga and Crown Point in 1759. In 1764 he removed to Vermont, and there obtained a township. Later he was appointed brigadier-general of militia by the state of New York. During the revolutionary war he was commissary-general of the northern department. He died March 1, 1816, in Newbury, Vt.

Texas. Since 1891 he has been a teacher in the Texas academy; and since 1901 has been adjunct professor of chemistry in the Texas academy at Austin. He has made valuable researches on hydrazin acids. Bailey, Jeremiah, lawyer, jurist, congressman, was born about 1785 in Compton, R.I. In 1835-37 he was a representative from Maine to the twenty-fourth congress; and he was collector of customs at Wiseasset in 1849-53. He died in July, 1853, in Wiseasset,

Bailey, John M., lawyer, jurist, was born July 11, 1839, in Dillsburg, Pa. In 1872-73 he was a member of the Pennsylvania constitution convention. Since 1895 he has been president judge of the twentieth judicial district of Pennsylvania.
