Beebe, Katherine, educator, author, was born Jan. 3, 1860, in Chicago, 111. Since 1884 she has been engaged in kindergarten work; and now resides in Evanston, 111. She is the author of the First School Year; Home Occupations for Little Children; School Room Plays; and The Story of Longfellow. Beebe, Milton Earl, designer, architect, was born Nov. 27, 1840, in Cassadaga, N.Y. He is one of the leading architects of the city of Buffalo; and has built and designed many of the most important buildings in that city. In 1879 he was elected alderman; and in 1881 was mayor of Buffalo.

She was the author of Domestic Economy; Physiology and Calisthenics; Letters to the People; Religious Training of Children; and Domestic Service. She died May 12, 1878, in Elmira, N.Y.

Beecher, Frederick Henry, soldier, was born June 22,1841,in New Orleans,La. He was in the battles of the army of the Potomac from Fredericksburg to Gettysburg. He served on the western borders and was killed by the Indians while on a scouting party some distance from Fort Wallace. He died Sept. 17, 1868, on the upper Republican River.
