At his decease he bequeathed ten thousand dollars to found a professorship of rhetoric and oratory at Harvard, John Quincy Adams being installed as the first professor in 1806. He died Aug. 18, 1771, in Boston, Mass. Boylston, Zabdiel, physician, surgeon, was born in 1680 in Brookfield, Mass. He was the first one to introduce the practice of inoculation for the smallpox in 1730. He published several pamphlets on the subject of inoculation. He died on March 1, 1766, in Brookline, Mass. Boynton, Charles Brandon, clergyman, chaplain, was born June 13, 1806, in Stockbridge, Mass. He was elected to the Massachusetts state legislature. In 1846-77 he was a presbyterian pastor in Cincinnati, Ohio, with the exception of his terms of service as chaplain of the house of representatives in the thirty-ninth and fortieth congresses. He died April 37, 1883, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Boynton, Edward Carlisle, soldier, author, was born about 1835 in Vermont. He served in the civil war; and received at its close the brevet of major for faithful services. He was the author of History of West Point; Guide to est Point and the United States Military Academy; and Register of Cadets Admitted to the Military Academy From its Origin to 1870. He was chairman of the Chickamauga park commission; and member of the board of brevets and medals of honor. He died June 3, 1905, in Atlantic City, N.J.
