Brown, Austin Haymond, journalist, manufacturer, was born March 19, 1828, in Milroy, Ind. He was the proprietor of the State Sentinel of Indianapolis in 1850-55, first as a semi-weekly and then as a daily, assisted in the editorial management by his father, William J. Brown. Since 1861 he has served thirteen consecutive years in the city council; and served nine years as one of the board of school commissioners. He is now connected with the Indianapolis stove company.
