Bull, William, lieutenant-governor of South Carolina, was born in 1710. He was a son of William Bull, who had also been lieutenantgovernor of South Carolina, and who died in 1755 at the age of seventy-two. He was a
member of the colonial council of South Carolina in 1751; was speaker of the house of delegates in 1763 and was appointed lieutenant-governor of that colony in 1764, which he filled for many years. He died July 4, 1791, in London, England.

He is a surgeon of several New York City hospitals; and won an appointment as professor of surgery in the college of physicians. Bulla, Robert Nelson, legislator, lawyer,' was born Sept. 8, 1852, in Richmond, Ind. Since 1883 he has practiced law in Los Angeles, Cal. In 1893-97 he was a member of the California state assembly; and in 1897 was elected to the state senate.
Bullard, Asa, clergyman, author, was born March 26, 1804, in Northbridge, Mass. He was a congregational clergyman of Massachusetts; and prominent in Sunday school work. His principal writings are Sunnybank Stories; Shady Dell Stories; Fifty Years with the Sabbath School and Incidents in a Busy Life, an autobiography. He died in
