He was the architect of the national capitol from 1817 until it was completed in 1830. He died April 15, 1844, in

He was the author of Poems, Lays of the Gospel, Communion Thoughts; Contemplations of the Saviour; The Holy Land and Its Inhabitants; The Harp and the Cross; Honour, or the Slave Dealer's Daughter; Manual of the Evidences of Christianity; and Studies in the Evidences of Christianity.
