was born in 1854 in Indiana. He is an architect of Indianapolis, Ind. He is the author of Beautiful Houses, a Study in Housebuilding; Convenient Houses; Gradual Reduction Milling; and Artistic Houses at Moderate Cost. Gibson, Paris, manufacturer, founder, United States senator, was born July 1, ]830, in Brownfield, Maine. In 1858 he settled in Minneapolis, Minn.; and built, with W. W. Eastman, the first flour mill and first woolen mill in Minneapolis. In lS8a he first examined the Falls of the Missouri; and at once founded the city of Great Falls. In 1889 he was a member of the convention that framed the constitution of Montana. In 1891 he was elected state senator of Montana; and in 1901-03 he was United States senator from Montana. Gibson, Perry Aurora, lawyer, state sentor, railroad president, was bom Aug. 25, His 1857, on a farm in Brie county. Pa. early education was obtained in the public schools of his native township; then he attended the state normal school at Edinboro, Pa.; and later graduated from the Iowa state university in 1883. He was for a while engaged in business with his brother. Dr. V. D. Gibson, but soon decided to adopt the profession of law. In 1896-1900 he was a member of the Pennsylvania state senate. Gibson, Robert Atkinson, clergyman, bishop, was born July 9, 1846, in Petersburg, Va. In 1878-87 he was rector of Trinity church at Parkersburg, W.Va.; and in 188797 was rector of Christ church at Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1897 he became protestant episcopal bishop of Virginia. Gibson, Robert Edward Lee, educator, journalist, author, poet, was born Jan. 14, 1864, in Steelville, Mo. He has been engaged in teaching newspaper work; and for ten years was chief clerk in the St. Louis insane asylum. He is the author of Sonnets and Lyrics. Gibson, Robert Williams, designer, architect, was born Nov. 17, 1854, in England. He has attained a national reputation as an architect; in 1899-1900 was president of architectural league of New York; and a, director in the American institute of architects.
Gibson, Tobias, missionary, pioneer, was 10, 1771, in Liberty, S.C. He made four trips while a missionary through the wilderness to the Cumberland; and laid the foundations of methodism in the southwest. Died April 10, 1804, in Natchez, Tenn. Gibson, W. H., soldier, orator. During the civil war he attained the rank of brigadiergeneral. He was a celebrated orator. He died Nov. 22, 1894, in Tiffin, Ohio. Gibson, William, physician, educator, was born in 1788 in Baltimore, Md. He was a famous physician of Philadelphia; and professor of surgery in the university of Pennsylvania in 1819-55.
