An Act to amend the New Zealand Institute Act, 1908.
[11th October, 1930.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
Short Title.1. This Act may be cited as the New Zealand Institute Amendment Act, 1930, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the New Zealand Institute Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
Section 2 of principal Act (as to constitution of Institute) amended.2. Section two of the principal Act is hereby amended by including in the list of incorporated societies in subsection one a reference to the Manawatu Philosophical Society, and by omitting from that list the references to the Westland Institute and the Southland Institute.
Section 3 of principal Act (as to constitution of Board) amended.3. Section three of the principal Act is hereby amended as follows:—
(a) By omitting the reference to the Minister of Internal Affairs, and substituting a reference to the Minister for the time being in charge of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research; and
(b) By adding the following paragraph:—
"One additional member may from time to time be appointed by the Board for a term not exceeding two years, save that any such member may, on the expiration of his term of office, be reappointed as a member of the Board."
Section 4 of principal Act consequently amended.4. Section four of the principal Act is hereby amended by inserting, after the word "Board" in subsection two, the words "other than a member appointed by the Board".
