COMMAND ARRANGEMENTS
Command arrangements for this concept would be as now provided for in SEATO Plan 5/61 except that the United States would have the responsibilities of the Appointed Nation. In addition, coordination between the SEATO forces and the Government of South Vietnam would be required.
FORCE INVOLVEMENT
1. The forces involved in support of this concept would include those forces now committed to support SEATO Plan 5/6 less both the Thai commitment and the US commitment to the Central Reserve. This force would be composed of approximately 9600 combat forces, of which about 5000 would be US. Headquarters units, air component, logistic and other support units would total about 13,200. This would provide a total force of about 22,800.
