You will know some time, my darling,That I never wronged you, never;That all my heart and soul are yoursForever and forever.
But you will learn, my darling,Too late for tears or grieving,The bitter falsehood of the taleYou crushed me in believing.
I loved you, oh! my darling,Too trustingly to doubt you,And pulse by pulse my life has failedSince I have lived without you.
