DISTRUSTED.
The blood-waves beat, my darling,And plash with weak endeavor,And soon I know that they shall ceaseTheir fitful play forever.
I care not, for, my darling,When hearts are slowly breakingThey crave the Lethe of the sleepThat knows no dream nor waking.
Could I out-live, my darling,Your faith in me? ah! never; For when I lost your love, I lostMy hold on life forever.
