' Action tried, in deceit of the Ordinary, or the Pof- ' fefTor of the faid Benefices, that in fuch Cafe, and all ' other Cafes like, where the King's Right is not tried, ' the Archbifhop or Bilhop, Ordinary or PofTefTor, ' lhall be received to counterplead the Title taken fpr ' the King, and to have his Anfwer, and to Ihew and ' defend his Right upon the Matter, although that he ' claim nothing in the Patronage in the Cafe aforefaid.' 'TEM, Whereas the faid Prelates have fhewed and prayed Remedy, for that the fecular Juftices " do accroch to them Cognifance of Voidance of Be- " nefices of Right, which Cognifance and the difcuf- " ling thereof pertaineth to the Judges of holy Church, " and not to the Lay-Judge;" ' (2) the King will ' and granteth, That the faid Juftices lhall from hence- ' forth receive fuch Challenges made or to be made by ' any Prelate of holy Church in this Behalf, and more- ' over thereof lhall do Right and Reafon.'
