The Com- mons of our Realm of England have-- prayed us by their Petition delivered to us at our prefent Parliament holden at Northampton, containing how many Wines of divers Manners oftentimes brought within the Land, which do often pafs withoutgauging,
- becaufe that the Statutes thereupon made in the Time
- of our Grandfather (whom God aflbil) do not make
exprefs Mention of all-Manner of Wines, and of other ' Liquors, to the great Damage of the Lords and ' Commons of the fame Realm, which be oftentimes
- deceived in their buying, becaufe they cannot with-
- out Gauge have rightful Knowledge how much the
' fame Veifel will contain, That it may pleafe us, for
- the Profit of us and our Realm more plainly to de-
- clare the fame Statutes, in fuch Manner, that all
- Manner of Wines, and other Liquors gaugeable
' brought within this Realm, maybe comprifed in the
- fame Statutes
- " ' (2) We confideringthe faid Suppli-
cation to be profitable for us, the Lords and Commons of the fame Realm, will and grant by the AfTent of the Prelates and Lords aforefaid, that the Statutes thereupon made (as is faid), be holden, kept, and put in due Execution. (3) And moreover we de- clare, and of the AfTent aforefaid will and grant, that as well all Manner VefTels of fweet Wines, of the Rhine, and of other Wines, as other VefTels of Vi- negar, Oil, Hor.ey, and all other Liquors gaugeable, which from henceforth fhall come within this Realm of England, or within our Lands of Wales and Ire- land, fhall be well and lawfully gauged by our Gau- gers thereto affigned, or their Deputies. (4) And if any fet Debate and Difturbance, and will not fuf- fer the Wines or other Liquors aforefaid to be gau- ged, he fhall incur the Pain ordained by the faid other ' Statutes.
