Ale, and other Liquors, for fecuring certain Recompences and Advantages, in the faid Ait mentioned, to fticb Per- '■ ' e War againji > feventh and ^,s -— . -. p ■ ■ .J ". .-^. . upon Salt, j Glafs Wares, Stone and Earthen IVares, and for granting feveral Duties upon Tobacco Pipes, and other Earthen Wares, for carrying on the War againji France, and for ejiahlifliing a National Land Bank, and for taking off" ' ! the Duties upon Tunnage of Ships and upon Coals, are provided, fettled or eftabliflied, for or concerning the I raifnig, levying, afcertaining, fecuring, collecting, or recovering, the feveral Duties upon Salt and Rock Salt thereby granted or continued, and for determining and afcertaining the Meafure of Englijh Salt by Weight, fliall beexercifed, prailifed, applied, levied, recovered, and put in Execution for the laifmg, le- vying, charging, afcertaining, fecuring, colledting, recovering, and paying the faid feveral Duties upon i Salt and Rock Salt by this Adt granted, during the Continuance of the Duties thereupon by this A(ft, I as fully and effe£tually, to all Intejits and Purpofes, as if all and every the faid Powers, Authori- ties, Rules and Direftions, Methods, Penalties, Forfeitures, Claufes, Matters, and Things, were parti- cularly repeated, and again enafted in the Body of this AiSt ; nevertlielefs with luch Allowance for Fifli 1 and Salt to be exported, as are herein mentioned (that is to fay) For all fuch P'ifh hereafter mentioned as j ihall be exported during the Continuance of the Duties hereby granted upon Salt, from any Port or Place in the faid Kingdom of England, Dominion of Wales, and Town of Berwick upon T%oeed, into Parts be- yond the Seas, by any Perfon or Perfons whatfoever, the Rates and Sums of Money hereafter exprelFed ; (that is to fay) For every Cafk or Veffel of Pilchards or Scads, containing fifty Gallons, eight Shillijigs, Allowances foi 1 and fo proportionably for a greater or lefler Quantity ; for every Barrel of White Herrings, one Shilling Fifli and Salt ' and eight Pence ; for every Barrel of Red Herrings, one Shilling and four Pence ; for every Barrel of Sal- exporteJ. ' mon, three Shillings and four Pence ; for every Hundred of Cod Fifli, Ling, or Hake, ten Shillings ; and > fo proportionably for a greater or fmaller Number or Q^iantity, fhall (over and above the Allowances for 1 the faid Fifh, by the faid former Afls for the Duties upon Salt, or either of them) be paid by Debentures, in fuch Manner and Form, and under the fame Rules and Penalties, as are prefcribed in the faid former Afts concerning the faid Duties upon Salt, or either of them, for or concerning the Allowances upon the Ex- portation of the like Kinds of Fiili. LV. And be it further enacted. LVI. And be it further eiiafted by the Authority aforefaid. That all the Duties by this Aft granted upon Application of < Salt, which fhall from time to time be levied and raifed, fhall be appropriated and applied, together with the Monies, i the other Duties by this Ait provided for that Purpofe, to and for the Payment and Satisfaftion of the In- j tereft Monies due, or to grow due at any 1 ime hefoie the five and twentieth Day oi December one thoufaiid fix hundred ninety-nine, to the Bank oi England, or any other Perfon or Perfons, Bodies Politick or Corpo- { rate, upon the Tallies or Orders charged upon the deficient Funds before mentioned ; and in cafe there be ' any Overplus of thefe Duties more than fhall be fufficient to difcharge fuch Interefl, then the faid Over- ; plus fhall be applied to the Payment of the Principal upon the faid deficient Funds, in the like Proportions as are above mentioned, according to the true Meaning of this Aft, under the like Penalties to be incur- I red for diverting or mifapplying any the Monies arifing by the faid Duties upon Salt hereby granted, as are j to be incurred for diverting or mifapplying any the Monies of the faid General Fund hereby appropriated ' for Satisfaftion of the faid Principal and Interelt. And whereas for Monies lent or advanced, or to be lent or advanced, at the Receipt of His j ' Majefiry's Exchequer, by feveral Perfons, as well Is^atives as Foreigners, Bodies Politick or Corporate, ■ ' they or fome other claiming by, from, or under them refpeftively, have, or hereafter may have, or are ' or may be intitled to Tallies of Loan, levied at the faid Receipt, and have or may have Orders figned by
- the Commiffioners of the Treafury, or fome of them, for the time being, or by the Lord Treafurer for the i
•' timebeing, for Repayment of the Money fo lent (with Intereft at certain Rates, or without Intereft) ' out of divers Taxes, Aids, Impofitions, Revenues, or other Branches chargeable therewith, and alfo ^
- have, or may have, in their Hands, or PoffelTion, divers Tallies of Pro, or AfTignment, levied or charged, !
' or to be levied or charged, upon certain of His Riajefty's Revenues, Duties, or Impofitions : And whereas j
- it is found by Experience, that many avaricious or ill difpofed Perfons, taking an Advantage of the Ne- j

- buying or purchafing of fuch Orders or Tallies, extort and gain to themfelves an exorbitant and unrea- )
