thirty thoufand three hundred eighty-two Pounds five Shillings and one Penny ; many of which Debts carry an Intereft after the Rate of five Pounds per Centum per Annum :' Now we, your Majefty's moil du- tiful and faithful Subjects, the Commons of Gr^i?; 5?7Vtf//z in Parliament afTembled, being defirous to do all that becomes dutiful and faithful Subjeils to render happy and glorious the Reign of the beft of Sovereigns, and having taken into our ferious Confideration the faid Debts and Deficiencies, and the many ill Confe- quences which may arife to the Publick thereby (if not timely remedied) and being heartily zealous to -- preferve the Honour of your Majefty and the Nation, and to eftablifh publick Credit, have refolved (in order to make a Provifion for the faid Debts and Deficiencies, amounting to the faid Sum of three millions two hundred thirty thoufand three hundred eighty-two Pounds five Shillings and one Penny) to give and grant unto your Majefty fuch Supply as is hereafter mentioned, for paying an Intereft or Annuity, after the Rate of four Pounds /)cr Centum per Annum, for the faid Principal Sum of three millions two hundred thirty thoufand three hundred eighty-two Pounds five Shillings and one Penny, in lieu of all other Intereft, until the fame fcall be redeemed and paid off", in Manner hereafter mentioned : And that a good, fure and lafting Fund may be fettled and eftablifhed for paying the faid Intereft or Annuities, after the faid Rate of four Pounds /)«r Centum per Jmuun, by half-yearly Payments, we do give and grant to your Majefty, your Heirs and Succeffors, for the Purpofes aforefaid, fo much Monies out of the Surplultes, Exceftes or Overplus Monies, commonly called The Sinking Fund, as fliall be fufficient to fatisfy and pay the faid Annuities, in Manner herein after-mentioned ; and do moft humbly befeech your Majefty to accept thereof ; and that it may be eirafted ; and be it enafted by the King's moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Con- fent of the Lords Spiritvial and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament aflembled, and by the Authority of the fame. That the Annuities which by this Aft fhall be granted and made payable, in refpeft Annuities of the faid Principal Sum of three millions two hundred thirty thoufand three hundred eighty-two Pounds chargeable on five Shillings and one Penny, until the Redemption thereof by Parliament, in Manner hereafter mentioned, the Principal fhall, from and after the Feaftof the Annunciation of the Bleffed Virgin Afctry one thoufand feven hundred ^""^ °^ and forty-nine, be charged and chargeable upon, and payable out of the Monies which, from and after the *'/'o'be^a'i/'* faid Feaft Day, fhall from time to time arife, and be remaining in the Receipt of his A4ajefty's Exchequer, cut'of the'sink- bf or for the laid Surpluffes, Excefies or Overplus Monies, commonly called The Siniing Fund (after pay- ingFund. ing or referving fufficient to pay all fuch Sum and Sums of Money as have been direfted by any former Aft ox Afts of Parliament to be paid out of the fame) and the faid SurpluiTes, Exceffes or Overplus Monies, are hereby appropriated for that Purpofe accordingly. ' II. And whereas it is the true Intent and Meaning of this Aft, that all the Bills, payable in Courfe out ' ' of his Majefty 's Offices of the Navy, or Viftualling, or for Tranfports, which were dated or made out ' in thofe Offices on or before the faid thirty-firft Day o^ December one thoufand feven hundred and forty- ' eight, not exceeding the faid Sum of three millions, fhall be carried to the Trcafury of his Majefty 's Na- ' vy, to be marked and certified to the Governor and Company of the Bank o^ England ; and alfo that all ' the Debentures, payable out of his Majefty's Office of Ordnance, which were dated on or before the ' faid thirty-firft Day of December one thoufand feven hundred and forty-eight, not exceeding the laid Sum

' carried to the Treafurer of his Majefty's Office of Ordnance, to be certified by him to the faid Governor ' and Company of the Bank of England; and that the Proprietors of fuch Bills and Debentures fhall, in.
