Great Eritain or Ireland, out of the Dominions of the Crown of Great Britain ; -, and to prevent the Exportation of Utenfils made ufe of in the Woollen and Silk Maniifac- rnrcs from Great Britain or Ireland, into foreign Parts-, and for the more eafy and fpeedy Determination of Appeals, allowed in certain Cafes, by an Acl made in the laft Seflion of ■ Parliament} relating to Perfons employed in the feveral Manufadlures therein mentioned. H E R E A S by an Aft made in the fifth Year of the Reign of his late Majefty King George the Firft, intituled, An A£i to prevent the Iiiconvetiiencies arifmg from fedncing Artificers in the Manu- ^Gw.i.i.zJ^ failures of Great Britain, into foreign Parts ; it is amongft other Things enafted. That if any Perfon or Perlbns fnall contract with, entice, endeavour to perfuade or iblicit any Manufafturer or Artificer of or in WooU, Iron, Steel, Brafs or any other Metal, Clock-maker, Watch-maker or any other Artificer or Manufactiirer oi Great Britain, to go out of this Kingdom, into any foreign Country out of his Ma- jefty's Dominions, and fhall be lawfully convifted thereof, in the Manner prefcribcd by the faid Aft ; the Perfon and Perfons fo convitt fhall be fined any Sum not exceeding one hundred Pounds for fuch firft Ofience, according to the Difcretion of the Court, in which fuch Convi£lion fhall be, and fhall be im- prifoned for the Space of three Months, and until fuch Fine fhall be paid ; and if any Perfon or Perfons having been once convict as aforefaid, fhall offend again, and be fo convift a fecond Time of the like- OfFence, then, and in fuch Cafe, the Perfon fo convict a fecond Time, fliall be fined at the Difcretion of the Court, where fuch Conviclion fhalJ be, and fhall be imprifoned for twelve Months, and until fuch Fine fhall be paid : And v.-hcreas, notwilhftanding the Penalties to which Offenders againft the faid A£l are thereby fubjeited, divers v/icked and evil difpofed Perfons have of late feduced into foreign Parts feve- ral Artificers in the Woollen and other Manufaiftures ; and it is therefore become necefiary to make fome further and more efFeftual Provifion, to deter fuch Perfons from committing the faid Offences, fo deftruc- tive to the Trade of this Kingdom :' Therefore for preventing the faid pernicious Praflices for the future, and for explaining, amending and rendering more efiriSlual the faid Aft, Be it enafted by the King's moft Excellent i^.'Iajefly, by and v/ith the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Com- mons, in this prefent Parliament affenibled, and by the Authority of the fame. Provided nevcrthelefs, That no Perfon fhall be profecuted for any of the Offences aforefaid, unlefs Profecutlon to fuch Profecution fhall be commenced within the Space of twelve Calendar Months next after fuch Offence b= con-imenced ftiall be committed.
